MAAM is a Los Angeles-based architecture practice and certified Woman-Owned Business (WBE) founded by Mariam Mojdehi and Meredith McDaniel. Each partner possesses a deep and distinct area of expertise; Mojdehi has a portfolio of institutional and cultural projects vested in sustainable design and McDaniel draws on her experience in the fields of literature, art and design to conceptualize projects that resonate within their specific cultural environments. Together, they create enduring and resilient works that are highly responsive to people and places. Meredith McDaniel, Founding Partner AIA

Meredith received her Master of Architecture from Yale University and her Bachelor of Art from Pomona College. Starting her career as the director of a prominent Los Angeles-based gallery, Meredith immersed herself in the contemporary art world before transitioning into the field of design. Meredith sets the creative direction for the practice and brings her unique vision to each project. Her pursuit of authenticity and conceptual rigor, along with a love for the visual arts and story-telling, invigorate MAAM’s designs with meaning and resonance. As partner at MAAM, she has led residential projects with a discerning eye for detail and proportion. Her work has been displayed at the Yale Architecture Gallery, The Center for Land Use Interpretation, and MoMA PS1. She has been an invited critic at the University of Southern California, Woodbury University and Sci-Arc. Meredith is a registered architect in the State of California.

Mariam Mojdehi, Founding Partner AIA LEED AP

Mariam received her Master of Architecture from Columbia University and her Bachelor of Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She is a LEED-Certified architect, well-versed in the stringent Living Building Challenge standards. Mariam is MAAM’s in-house expert on sustainable building systems, having worked on the first municipal building in the country to have net-positive energy and water.

As partner at MAAM, Mariam has overseen multiple commercial and institutional projects including the Seaweed Flagship and Growroom. She is an active member of the AIA Committee on the Environment and USGBC LA Chapter. She is also on the board of California Greenworks -an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life through environmental education and implementation of sustainable community-based restoration and revitalization projects. Previously, she has taught at Parsons and Georgia Institute of Technology. She has been an invited critic at University of Southern California, Cal Poly Pomona, Columbia University, and Auburn. Mariam is a registered architect in the State of New York and California.
